Panaji: Accused Vikas Bhagat, arrested in Irish woman death, has been remanded to seven-day police custody by Canacona court in Goa.

A 25-year-old Irish woman was found dead on a beach in South Goa following which one person was arrested.

According to the police, the 25-year-old deceased had come with a friend and had participated in Holi celebrations in coastal Canacona village, known for its popular beaches, before being found dead on Tuesday.

Vikas Bhagat, a history sheeter from Canacona village, located near Devabag, was arrested today in this connection and is being interrogated, the official said.

Police, suspecting rape, have sent the body to the Goa Medical College near Panaji for post-mortem.
