PANCHKULA: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's 'adopted daughter' Honeypreet Insan's judicial custody was extended by 14 days by a court here on Thursday.

Honeypreet was arrested by the Haryana Police in connection with the violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana on August 25, which had left 41 people dead and over 260 injured. The violence erupted after Ram Rahim's conviction in two rapes that date back to 2002.

The Dera chief was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of over Rs 30 lakh.

Honeypreet Insan, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, was arrested by the Haryana Police on October 3.

Honeypreet is currently lodged in Ambala central jail.

The police had earlier sought police remand for Honeypreet, saying she was the closest aide of the rapist sect chief and knew many things about the activities of the sect and its role in the violence in Panchkula and other places after the self-styled godman's conviction.

Honeypreet had remained fugitive for 38 days after she was booked by Haryana Police on charge of sedition. She was arrested on October 3 from the Zirakpur-Patiala highway, about 15 km from Chandigarh.

Honeypreet had illicit relations with Dera chief

Vishwas Gupta, the former husband of Honeypreet, had claimed that she never slept with him and every night she was with the Dera chief.

While accusing Honeypreet and Gurmeet of having illicit relations, Gupta had said their father-daughter relationship was a sham to fool followers and others.

Revealing about his ex-wife and Gurmeet's illicit relationship, Gupta claimed that he saw Ram Rahim and Honeypreet in a compromising Gupta claimed that Honeypreet was not adopted legally. "Both Ram Rahim and Honeypreet threatened me and my family on several occasions," he claimed.

"Ram Rahim had given orders to kill me," he further claimed.position in the Dera chief's "gufa" or private accommodation on the sprawling campus near Sirsa town in Haryana.

Since 2009, Honeypreet was living with Ram Rahim as his de-facto wife, Gupta alleged, adding that prior to 2009, only men were given top roles in the Dera management but after 2009, women, including Honeypreet started having a say.

Ram Rahim adopted Honeypreet in 2009. Gupta claimed he married Honeypreet in 1999 on the direction of the Dera chief before filing for divorce in 2011.
