Gurugram: The Gurugram-based Haryana Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a criminal from Sonipat who had a bounty of Rs 5,000 on his head, police said on Saturday.
The arrested criminal has been identified as Amjad, a resident of village Mukarmpur under Buria Police Station in the state's Yamunanagar district.
"Amjad carried a bounty of Rs 5,000 on his head and was arrested from Deepalpur Mohammad village in Sonipat on Friday," the officer said.
"He has confessed that on May 11, 2016, he along with his two accomplices had tried to kill people by hitting them with a Scorpio (SUV) and fired at public and the police over the cow slaughter issue," he said.
Amjad's accomplices, Sahjad and Aash Mohammad, are residents of Lapra village in Yamunanagar district and are yet to be arrested.
