New Delhi: With Holi, the festival of colours round the corner, everyone must be busy buying colours and water guns. Though people loves to play with colours, water guns, water filled balloons during this festival, but it can also damage the hair and skin because of the harmful and toxic chemicals.
Oiling
One apply oil, such as olive oil, coconut oil, mustard oil on your face, hair and body before and after playing with colours.
Moisturise
You can also moisturize your skin with sunscreen all over your body, especially behind your ears and ear lobes as these are areas one tends to neglect. But make sure that the moisturizer has an SPF to avoid a tan from the sun.
Clothing
Always wear dark colour-full sleeves and full length bottoms to protect your skin.
Nail paints
Protect your nails from harsh effects of colours by painting your fingers and toes with nail polish.
Water
One should drink lots of water before you start playing Holi as it will keep your skin hydrated.
Use natural colours
Instead of using colours that contains harmful chemicals, you can opt for natural colours such as henna, turmeric, marigold flowers, tomatoes and tea leaves for a safe and skin-friendly Holi.
Cover your head
Cover your head with a thick scarf to protect your hair from being soaked in colour.
Lips
Apply a good amount lip gloss/lip balm on your lips to protect it from colours.
