New Delhi: Heart disease, also called cardiovascular disease, is a class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels. In other words, heart disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), heart disease is the leading cause of death in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia.
The CDC also estimates that most US adults have a heart age greater than their actual age. This increases their risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
Watch this short video by CDC to learn why your heart age is important and what steps you can take to improve it.
You can also use this tool to find out whether your heart age is higher or lower than your actual age. This tool is a collaboration between NHS Choices, Public Health England and the British Heart Foundation.
