The Late Show host David Letterman underwent emergency multiple-bypass heart surgery in New York in January 2000. He had a history of heart disease in his family and his father had died suddenly of a heart attack at age 57.
Former US president Bill Clinton successfully underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery in September 2004. Four major blood vessels of his heart were found to be 90% blocked. Further, he was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City on February 11, 2010 after he complained of chest pains and had two coronary stents implanted in his heart.
Dick Cheney underwent a heart transplant surgery in March 2012. The surgery took place at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. Cheney has a history of heart trouble and has suffered at least five heart attacks since 1978. The first one happened when he was 37.
The talk show host Larry King underwent a quintuple bypass surgery in 1987 after suffering from a massive heart attack. After the heart attack, he stopped smoking immediately and gave up the fattening, greasy foods that once were his diet staples. He has also penned two books on the subject of heart disease, “Mr. King, You’re Having a Heart Attack” and “Taking on Heart Disease”.

George W. Bush had a heart surgery after the doctors found a blockage in an artery in his heart. The former president has received medical attention over the years, including treatment for scrapes and scratches from bicycle accidents. Bush also had a colonoscopy in 2002.
