New Delhi: Most of the people usually suffer from heat rash during the hot summer season because of the heat and sweating.

Heat rash or prickly heat is a skin condition caused by blocked sweat ducts and trapped sweat beneath the skin. It is said that wearing loose cotton clothes and applying ice is not of much help in relieving the heat rashes.

Though there are many ointments and medicines easily available in the market, one can opt for natural remedies to deal with the rashes before the condition worsens.

Here are a few home remedies to treat heat rash:

Neem leaves

This leaves has antibacterial property which helps to deal with itchy skin due to prickly heat. Apply a paste of gneem leaves on the affected area to treat heat rash.

Sandalwood

The soothing and cooling effect of sandalwood paste helps to treat heat rash? Mix a teaspoon of sandalwood powder with rose water and apply it over the skin.

Henna leaves

Because of its anti-inflammatory property, henna leaves helps to soothe the irritated skin and also provides relief from the burning sensation.

Curd

The cooling and anti-bacterial property of curd aslo helps to get rid of itchy skin due to heat rash. Apply a smear of curd on the affected area and leave it to dry naturally. After it dries out, take a cold shower.

Durva grass

Durva grass has an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic agent that helps in treating itchy skin and heat rashes. Grind durva grass and turmeric to a fine paste and apply it over the affected area to treat prickly heat.
