New Delhi: As the national capital grapples with infected mosquito infestation and diseases like chikungunya and dengue, the government is being questioned on their actions against them.

The elevating death toll due to chikungunya has the government concerned and a meeting was called on Wednesday morning by the Health Ministry to address the issue, chaired by Health Minister JP Nadda.

As of this morning, chikungunya has claimed another life, raising the toll to six. However, Nadda has said that there's no need to panic and assured full cooperation and assistance by the Center to Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain.

As of now, Nadda has also called for a detailed report of the cases and casualties caused by chikungunya.

On being questioned, Dr DS Rana, Chairperson of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said, "I have just received an e-mail from Government of India that deaths reported of chikungunya positive patients should be probed a little more."

Rana, however, went on to say,"We can't say if deaths were due to chikungunya; don’t have evidence of other diseases, we have evidence only of organ failure."
