New Delhi: In a bid to take Indian football
to new heights, Asian Football Confederation has set up a
panel `Ad Hoc Committee for Indian Professional Football` with
AFC chief Mohamed bin Hammam as chairman and AIFF president
Praful Patel as vice-chairman.
The formation of the new body was approved by the AFC
Executive Committee meeting on March 26 in Kuala Lumpur.
The other members of the committee are: Manilal Fernando
(AFC vice-president), Pronab Das Gupta (East Bengal
president), Alan Durante (Mahindra United president), Larsing
Sawyan (secretary and owner of Shillong Lajong), Joaquim
Alemao (Churchill Brothers president), Alberto Colaco (AIFF
General Secretary and chairman of I-League Committee), Thierry
Regenass (Director of Member Associations and Development
Division of FIFA) and Michelle Chai (AFC Vision Asia
Department Director), an AFC release said.
The first meeting is scheduled for April 24, in Doha,
Qatar, one day after the 2011 AFC Asian Cup Finals draw
