New Delhi: Handicapped by poor
qualifications, Armaan Ebrahim finished ninth and 13th in the
sixth round of the FIA Approved Formula 2 Championship in
Germany.
In his first outing at the technical Oschersleben
circuit, Armaan qualified 21st for Race 1 and 17th for Race 2.
The first race was quite eventful and there was a huge
amount of bumping and hitting among all 25 cars diving into a
very tight corner. Almost all cars suffered some damage on the
front wings and nose cones.
Armaan came out of the corner making a few places in the
process, but had some damage to the front wing. Armaan then
did his customary overtaking manoeuvres and moved up to
seventh place midway through the race before losing two places
to finish ninth.
Race two saw Armaan climb up the ladder again to 13th
place and he could not move up further in the shorter race
with all three cars ahead of him defending their positions
sternly.
"We knew it was going to be a tough weekend and tough it
was," Armaan said.
"The race was much better as I was able to make many
places in the opening laps and could have had an easy seventh
or maybe even a sixth place finish, if my front wing was not
damaged. But considering the fact that we started 21st,
finishing ninth and in the top 10 was quite good," he said.
