Jammu: An Army jawan was injured when two
Hizbul Mujahideen militants fired on him after storming into
his house in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, police
said on Monday.

The militants -- Rizwan and Hafeez -- barged into the
house of Sepoy Ishtiyaq Ahmed Bhat of 159 Territorial Army
battalion in Paith village in Madwa belt of Kishtwar last
night, they said.

They opened fire on the jawan, injuring him, police said
adding that the duo later escaped from the spot.

Armymen and police rushed to the scene after getting
information from the family and shifted the injured jawan to a
nearby medical centre. Bhat, who had come on leave from Assam
three days ago, was airlifted to the Command Hospital in
Udhampur today.

Police have arrested one Hizbul overground worker Ashaq
and has launched a hunt for another person named Gulam
Mohdmmad, who allegedly hatched a conspiracy with militants
to eliminate the jawan, they said.
