Jamshedpur: Delhi`s Ashok Kumar fired a steady three-under 66 to sail into the final of ninth Tata Open with a six-stroke lead on Saturday.
With his three-under 66 in the final round, Ashok finished with a total of 17-under 190.
Vijay Kumar of Lucknow and Delhi`s Manav Jaini lie tied second at 11-under 196.
During the day, the entire field played nine holes each on both the courses -- Beldih as well as Golmuri. While one half of the field teed off from Beldih, the other half began its round from Golmuri.
Twenty nine golfers with the best scores at the end of round two teed off from Golmuri and finished at Beldih. The par for the combined courses was 69. The same format will also be followed in the final round on Sunday.
Ashok (59-65-66), the overnight leader by seven strokes, was in poor hitting form today and made putts from eight to 10 feet on all his birdies while a couple of wayward drives led to bogeys.
However, the Delhi golfer who is currently placed second on the 2010 Rolex Rankings, continued to be the hot favourite for the title as he enjoyed a healthy six-stroke lead at the moment.
Vijay (67-64-65) made six birdies against two bogeys in his round of four-under 65 that placed him tied second while Manav`s (63-68-65) round of 65 also featured six birdies and two bogeys.
Manav had an astounding run of five straight birdies from the 12th to 16th hole.
Maniram Sharma is placed fourth with a total of eight-under 199.
Reigning champion Gurki Shergill is in tied sixth with a total of six-under 201.
Om Prakash Chouhan of Mhow posted a five-under 64 to record the day`s best score. His round included a hole-in-one on the sixth.
