Authorities ask schools to close indefinitely due to heat wave

Following reports of students and teachers fainting due to extreme heat wave, the Dhanbad district administration in Jharkhand on Wednesday asked all schools here to declare holiday for indefinite period.

of students and teachers fainting due to extreme heat wave, the Dhanbad district administration in Jharkhand on Wednesday asked all schools here to declare holiday for indefinite period.
Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad, Ajay Kumar Singh,
asked the authorities of private and government schools to
close the institutions in the districts for an indefinite
period from June 25.

Heat wave has been sweeping the coal belt, with
mercury touching 44.5 degree Celsius here, MeT sources said.

The decision came after reports of students and
teachers fainting due to the heat in several parts of the
district. Six students and two women teachers fell unconscious
on Tuesday in a primary school due to heatwave, officials
said.
