Kolkata: City giants Mohun Bagan`s dismal run of from continued as they drew 2-2 with lowly Railway
Football Club in the premier division of Kolkata Football League here today. Dinesh Sar and Swarnava Barua scored for the railwaymen while Jose Ramirez Barreto and Sueka found the target for the green and maroon brigade. Both the sides were 1-1 at half time. Bagan, who are yet to taste any defeat in the KFL, were on the backfoot early into the game and conceded a goal in the 13th minute. Following a corner by Railway`s S Barua, striker Dinesh Sar shot home to take the lead for Railway FC (1-0). Stung by the reverse, Bagan went all out and made a series of raids on the rival citadel forcing the equaliser from a penalty kick which was awarded when Railway goalkeeper Sudipta Banerjee committed a foul on Sueka in the 23rd minute. Barreto converted the spot kick neatly to draw level for Bagan (1-1). Spurred by the equaliser, Bagan put a barrage of attacks but the Railway custodian thwarted them. Railways were awarded a penalty in the 57th minute after Dinesh Sar`s shot was handled by Bagan defender Zenith inside the box but goalkeeper Shilton Paul saved the spot kick taken by Palash Mondal. But as the ball rebounded off Shilton, Swarnava Mondal, who was lurking nearby, darted in and found the target with a quick reflex shot (2-1). Bagan then made an all out attempt and drew level again in the 70th minute (2-2). Following a corner taken by Tomba Singh, Barreto headed the ball to striker Sueka who restored parity to salvage some prestige for Bagan. Despite sharing points, Bagan continue to lead the local league table with 32 points from 12 matches, followed by Chirag United (24 from 10 outings). Railway FC have so far earned 11 points from 13 matches. PTI
