Thursday said that the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) under his department had already allotted plots to many sportspersons in the state, while several others were in the queue.
This initiative was taken by the state government toencourage them to excel in their respective field, the minister said while briefing media about the KMDA meeting on Wednesday.
Those having been allotted plots already included international archer Rahul Banerjee, senior table tennis players Shubhajit Saha, Mantu Ghosh and Poulumi Ghatak, besides swimmer Mamoni Mondal.
While 2.5-3 cottahs of land were given to each near E M Bypass, the process to allot Mamoni either a flat or one cottah of land was in process, he said.
Similarly, plots would be allotted to sports personalities like footballer Dipendu Biswas, badminton star Pullela Gopichand for his Eastern Zonal School and hockey player Bharat Chhetri, the minister said.
