BMC sets up ICU units in 3 hospitals to fight swine flu

Mumbai: To tackle swine flu effectively, the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has set up Intensive Care
Units in three city hospitals, official sources said.

"We do not want to take chances. As a precautionary
measure and to deal with the H1N1 infected cases effectively,
one ICU with 100 beds has been set up in Kasturba hospital and
one ICU with 20 beds each has been set up at Siddharth and N D
Agarwal hospitals," Ravindra Waikar, Chairman of BMC Standing
Committee, said.

One special cell in six civic hospitals each has been set
up to examine suspected swine flu patients, he said adding
protective masks are available at all the hospitals.
