Chikka prevails over Prabhagaran, to meet Bhanu in final

Pune: In a high-quality match, 16-year-old Chikkarangappa defeated Sri Lanka`s K Prabhagaran to set up a
title clash against unheralded Bhanupratap Singh in the matchplay championship at the LG All-India Amateur golf tournament here today. While Chikka beat Prabhagaran 3&1, Bhanu continued his march over higher-ranked players, as he upset the experienced Karan Vasudeva 2&1 to make it to the final. The first match of the day lived up to its billing as both Chikkarangappa and Prabhagaran put on excellent display, producing quality shots in the early part of the match. Chikka went neck-and-neck with the experienced Lankan before he broke loose and even though the 29-year-old Sri Lankan made a comeback, Chikka held his nerves and fired two back-to-back birdies to win the tie.
