Kannur: Chirag United, Kolkata defeated Lajong FC Shillong 2-0 in the pool `B` league match to enter semifinal of the third E K Nayanar Memorial gold cup football tournament.
Chirag United, who had beaten Pune FC in their first pool `B` encounter on Sunday, now have six points to qualify for the semifinals.The breakthrough for the Kolkata side came as Brazilian Edmilson Marques struck in the 35th minute.
Brazilian Josi Marda Silva Martins then made it 2-0 six minutes before the final whistle.Tomorrow`s league encounter will see Lajong taking on East Bengal.
