Patna: Union Minister and senior Congress
leader Salman Khursheed today claimed that his party`s
strength had increased substantially in Bihar and it expected
"a rich" electoral harvest this elections.
"The strength of the Congress has increased
substantially evident from the massive response to the
election meetings," Khursheed told reporters here.
He said the party expected "a rich electoral harvest"
under the campaign to be spearheaded by AICC General Secretary
Rahul Gandhi on the pattern of Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha polls.
"Rahul`s charisma will be at work in Bihar this time,"
he said, adding the huge rush for securing party nominations
also proved beyond doubt his claim.
Castigating Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his claim
for development, Salman said what Nitish had at all done was
"shifted Bihar to general ward from Intensive Care Unit."
"Congress is the only party which is above politics of
caste considerations and have a long experience on the issue
on the development," he said, adding development would remain
the main plank this election.
Khursheed also expressed happiness over his party
giving good representation to Muslims and youth below 40 years
in distribution of party tickets.
State Congress Media Cell Chairman Prem Chandra Mishra
who was also present at the press conference, alleged that the
authorities had adopted "biased attitude" towards the
candidates of the Congress and said his party would lodge a
formal complaint with the election commission about it.
"We are surprised to see that a case has been lodged
against our Gopalganj nominee Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu
Yadav, charging him with violating model code of conduct for
elections," he said, adding "we failed to comprehend that
whether mere parking of vehicles outside the house of a
candidate on the charge of which the case has been registered
in Gopalganj is violative of the code."
