New Delhi: With little over two months left
for Commonwealth Games and several key projects running
behind schedule, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday
attributed the delay in certain projects to multiplicity of
authorities but said all the works will be completed before
the new deadline of August 31.
During a meeting with Games Organising Committee
chairman Suresh Kalmadi, Dikshit said although some projects
got delayed they will be completed well in time.
Asking Kalmadi not to worry about the infrastructure
projects being implemented by the city government, she said
all government agencies involved in the projects have been
told to complete their projects by August 31.
When Kalmadi asked about status of the Barapullah Nallah
elevated road, Dikshit told him that it will be completed very
soon.
The four-km elevated road between Sarai Kale Khan and
the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main venue of the event, is
being built to provide uninterrupted traffic flow from Games
Village near Akshardham temple to the stadium.
In the meeting, Kalmadi apparently sought city
government`s financial help in putting up hoardings and
banners across the city to celebrate the event, but Dikshit
turned down the request citing the government`s fund shortage.
