Coimbatore: Delhi golfer Sidharth Seth held on to his nerves to clinch the Tamil Nadu Open Amateurs title at the Coimbatore Golf Course on Sunday.
Seth, who led the first round before falling back in the second, had clawed back to share lead in the third round.
Seth won with a final round of 77 and had a total of 316, three better than second placed L Selvadurai (319) of TNGF and Praful Chand (322) of KGA, who finished third.
On the final day on Saturday, which was much cooler than the previous three days as it was cloudy and drizzling, Seth opened well with a fine front nine that had two birdies and just one bogey.
He, although struggled in the second half with six bogeys for a round of 77, but held on for the title as his closest rivals failed to close in.
Selvadurai (77) put up a fight, but Praful, joint leader after three rounds, faltered with a 83 and ended third.
The top 50 qualify for the Categorised events, the Interstate Open at Coimbatore and Southern India Amateur at KGA Bengaluru.
R Gopinath, the Captain of the Course, gave away the prizes.
Also present on the occasion were Ramaswamy, PBH Pawar, Joseph Chakola and Col Ajay Singh.
