Mumbai, Mat 01: Veteran Marathi film personality Annasaheb alias Narayan Yashwant Deulgaonkar was tonight presented Chitrapati V Shantaram Award and film actor Shammi Kapoor was honoured with the late Raj Kapoor Award for 2005 at the 42nd Maharashtra State Marathi Film Festival here.
Awarded for his contribution to the Marathi film industry, Deulgaonkar's Award comprised of Rs 1.25 lakh and a citation.
Marathi film `Uttarayan' swept the awards in popular category by bagging Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Best Film, Chitrapati Bhalji Pendharkar Award for Best Director (Bipin Nadkarni), Best Actor (Shivaji Satam), Best Supporting Actor (Viju Khote), Best Dialogue (Kaustubh Sawarkar) and Best Screenplay (Bipin Nadkarni).
Baburao Painter Award for Second Best Film went to `Sawarkhed Ek Gao' (director Rajiv Patil) while Master Vinayak Award for Third Best Film was bagged by `Saat Chya Aat Gharat' (director Sanjay Surkar). Sonali Kulkarni bagged the Best Actress Award for the film `Devrai' while Mukta Barve was given the award for Best Debut for the film `Chakwa'.
The Award for Best Film with rural theme was bagged by `Pandhar' (director Gajendra Ahire) while the Award for Best Film with Social Message was given to `Devrai' (director Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukhtankar).
A special award was also given to Ujwal Nirgudkar for having earned a patent in quality control in film technology.
Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Sunil Dutt, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashok Chavan and acclaimed film director Ashutosh Gowarikar were among those who were present on the occasion.
