Discus throw Poonia improves her personal best

New Delhi: Top Indian woman discus thrower Krishna Poonia produced a new personal best with a throw of

63.69m in the USA Olympic Training Centre Meet at Chula Vista in San Diego. Poonia improved upon her previous personal best of 63.41m which she recorded in May 2008. Her effort yesterday was, however, nearly one metre less than Seema Antil`s national record of 64.64m. Poonia has been training at Portland, USA, under the guidance of former Olympic champion Mac Wilkins for the last two months in preparation for the Commonwealth and Asian Games. PTI
