Chandigarh: Organising committee of the Kabaddi World Cup, to be held across Punjab next month, has
made dope testing mandatory. Munish Chander, convener of medical and anti-doping committee of the tournament, informed Punjab Sports Director Pargat Singh that dope tests will be mandatory for all the players participating in the event. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal directed organising committee of the World Cup to make the tournament "dope free". "The Anti-Doping Committee will take samples of players while in competition or off the competitions. Anytime and Anywhere," a release said today. Besides India, Britain, United States, Canada, Pakistan, Iran, Australia, Italy and Spain have already confirmed their participation in the event starting April 3. Punjab government will give a cash prize of Rs one crore to the winning team, besides a glittering rolling trophy and individual awards. The runner-up country will receive Rs 51 lakhs, a trophy and individual awards, while third placed team will be richer by Rs 25 lakhs. PTI
