New Delhi: The Players Status Committee of the AIFF stayed the suspension on Saikhohao Tuboi but in a breather for Lajong FC, recognised the player`s registration with the Shillong-based club.
Tuboi was suspended on May 6 after Southern Smithy reported to the AIFF that the player had turned out for Army XI in the IFA League despite being registered with Lajong.
The period of suspension, however, will be finalised by the executive committee.
"It was held that player Tuboi was eligible to play for Lajong Shillong Club during 2010-11. He was not eligible to play for Army XI in the IFA League during 2010-11. He has been suspended by the AIFF on the PSC`s preliminary findings on May 6," an AIFF statement read.Promoted to the top tier, Lajong recently found themselves in a spot of bother, with quite a few demanding that the club be demoted for fielding Tuboi.
It was also held that the players who played for East Bengal under-19 team were eligible to play as they were cleared by IFA on the basis of the directives from the AIFF.
The PSC also recommended the executive committee to "alert all state associations to obtain a declaration from any player registering with it for Services or Railway team(s) that he/she is not registered with any other state association"."Where such declaration is not made the normal procedure of inter-state transfer should be followed. And such Services or Railway team(s) shall thereafter be deemed on par with other clubs within the state associations."
