Bhopal: Former Hockey olympian Aslam Sher Khan strongly criticised the decision of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation to attach his house, given to him in 1975 when he was part of the Indian team that won the World Cup in Malaysia.
"On one hand Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was giving money to players of the Indian hockey team and on the other he was being treated very shabbily," Aslam told reporters. This only showed that the state government is following a double policy when it came to those involved with hockey, he said. The former Olympian said people who had brought the country honours were being treated in a bad way while those who had yet to prove themselves were being showered with money. Aslam`s house in Shivaji Nagar locality here was attached yesterday for non-payment of property dues amounting to over Rs four lakhs. The house of former Rajya Sabha member Prafful Maheshwari was attached for non-payment of Rs 16 lakh property tax, while the property of Sangam Talkies was attached for non-payment of property tax to the tune of Rs 4,26,896.
