Chandigarh, May 17: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)
president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday expelled senior leaders Gaganjit Singh Barnala and Baldev Singh Mann from the party for their alleged anti-party activities during the Lok Sabha polls.

Barnala is a former MLA of the SAD and also son of Tamil
Nadu Governor S S Barnala besides being vice president of the
party.

Mann is a member of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC)
of the party.

The decision was taken by Sukhbir for the alleged
anti-party role of Barnala and Mann during the recently concluded Lok
Sabha elections, a party spokesman said here.

Sukhbir said that indiscipline in the party will not be
tolerated at any cost.

He said that stringent action will be taken against all
those party members whose role has been negative during the
recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.

The SAD could only manage four out of total 13 seats in
the polls whereas its ally BJP got one seat.

The SAD-BJP combine strength fell from 11 in 2004 to five
in 2009 polls.
