Siem Reap: His Asian Tour card in jeopardy, Indian golfer Rahil Gangjee will have to rediscover his form at next week`s Jhonnie Walker Cambodian Open to retain his full playing right in the circuit next year.
Gangjee made an impressive start to the season when he finished tied seventh at the Asian Tour International but has hit a rough patch ever since. The 31-year-old is currently 78th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit and needs to be inside top-65 to retain his card. But for that the Indian needs to find the form which sets him up his maiden win at the 2004 Volkswagen Masters in China.Apart from him, past Asian Tour winners Artemio Murakami of Philippines and Bryan Saltus of the United States will also aim to secure their Tour cards for next season. The full field-USD 300,000 Asian Tour event, starting from November 19 to 22, will be the penultimate tournament on the Asian Tour calendar before the King`s Cup in Thailand.Murakami, winner of the inaugural Iskandar Johor Open in 2007, rued a cold putter the entire season but is optimistic of a turnaround in fortunes. The Filipino is 74th on the Order Merit. After missing the cut in seven consecutive tournaments, Saltus is also determined to end his lean spell. His slow form has left him languishing in 91st position on the Order of Merit. Bureau Report
