Taipei: None of the Indian golfers in fray
managed to break par with Rahil Gangjee being the best-placed
among his compatriots at tied 18th with a two-over 74 in the
opening round of the USD 500,000 Mercuries Taiwan Masters here
on Thursday.

Himmat Rai was the next best at tied 42nd after returning
a four-over 76.

Digvijay Singh occupied the tied 54th position after a
five-over 77, while Anirban Lahiri took a share of the 67th
spot after carding a six-over 78.

At the top of the leader-board, South African Peter
Karmis grabbed the sole lead with a two-under 70, which was
one of the four under-par cards of the day.

Thai Pariya Junhasavasdikul, Malaysian Iain Steel and
local hope Chen Tsang-te shared the second position with
identical one-under 70s.
