Puducherry: Former Chief Minister N Rangasamy
has alleged that the Congress government here has `let down` farmers, weavers and workers and urged people to ensure that it was defeated in the coming elections, due in May.
Addressing a meeting of his newly launched All India N R
Congress party at Karaikal yesterday, he said farmers had to
procure fertilisers from other states as they found it
difficult to get it here.
He allaged that garments meant to be handed free of cost to
the Adi Dravidars and elderly were also being procured from
other States causing strain on the exchequer and suggested
that the huge stock of unsold saris and dhotis with government
owned PONTEX, be used for the scheme.

He said he started his new party to ensure that people
elected a new government so that the poor, students, workers
and weaves would be taken care of.

Rangasamy alleged that all welfare measures he had brought
in or formulated were pushed to the background by the present
government.
