Heavy turnout shows public angst: BJP

Lucknow: BJP on Wednesday said the heavy turnout in
Uttar Pradesh polls reflected public angst against price rise,
corruption and unemployment due to "wrong policies" of the BSP
government in the state and Congress-led UPA at the Centre and
claimed that people have decided to vote BJP to power.

"There is resentment over scams at the Centre, corruption
and bad governance of BSP and `hulla bol` style of SP regime
and it is reflecting in the high voter turnout," BJP state
chief Surya Pratap Shahi told reporters here.

Shahi claimed that of the 114 seats for which polling was
held in first two phases, BJP would get 50 to 55 seats.
He said that besides the Congress-led UPA, SP and BSP were
equally responsible for price rise.

Referring to Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, he said
that mere apology for his spat with the Election Commission
would not do and he should be sacked.
