New Delhi: India`s Amit Khanna and Praween Dahiya shot a cumulative score of 95 to be placed at the
eighth position in both the badge and pairs events as the Commonwealth Full Bore Shooting Championship resumed after two days of training here on Tuesday. Amit and Praween scored 47/50 and 48/50 respectively to get a cumulative score of 95 at the Full Bore Shooting Range, CRPF campus, Kadarpur today. In the QP Pairs event, Geoffrey Grenfell and James Corbett of Australia stood first, Michael Collings and John Snowden of New Zealand stood second and South African pair of Jan Jonck and Petrus Haasbroek stood at third position with 250 points each, scoring cent percent points. In the QP Badge event, Zulkeflee Hamsan of Malaysia was placed first with Northern Ireland`s David Calvert at second and Morris Gareth of Wales at third position with everyone scoring 50 points each. The positions were thus decided on the best of 10`s by each shooter. "The non-availability of full bore rifles for Queen`s matches has not dented his team`s spirits. Despite their maiden participation in the event, the Indians have been able to match performances with the top teams like South Africa, Australia and New Zealand who scored cent per cent in the tournament," said coach and competition manager TS Dhillon. Earlier, the Queen`s Prize (QP) competition started with shooters taking their position on the 300 yards targets. In the Queen`s Prize Individual event Garreth Morris from Wales stood first with 85 points scoring 11 better 10`s. Australian shooter Geoffrey Grenfell finished second 85 points and 10 better 10`s. James Paton of Canada stood third with 85 points. The championship is being considered as a test event for the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held from October 3-14 later this year here. PTI
