India to send 15-strong team in World Junior Weightlifting

India will be represented by a strong 15-member team, including seven girls, in the World Junior Weightlifting Championships to be held from June 11-20 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

New Delhi: India will be represented by a strong 15-member team, including seven girls, in the World Junior Weightlifting Championships to be held from June 11-20 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Among the seven girls in the team, Matsa Santoshi had won three bronze in 48kg in the Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan last month. Seera Chandrakala and Gara Aruna Rani had bagged two silver and a bronze respectively in 63kg category in the same tournament. Among the eight boys in the team, V Prabhakar had won three bronze in +105kg category in Tashkent. Last year, Sukhen Dey scripted history by becoming the first Indian junior lifter to win a medal in a world championship by bagging a bronze in 56kg in Romania.
