Indian challenge ended at the Pro Tour China Open table tennis championship following first round defeats of Neha Aggarwal, Soumyajit Ghosh and Sanil Shetty in Tianjin on Friday.

In the under-21 event for girls, Olympian Neha was routed 0-4 by Singapore’s Yu Meng Yu while Ghosh was mauled 0-4 by Korean Le Sang Su in the boys event. Shetty went down fighting against Korea’s Han Ji Min 2-4 in his opening encounter.After losing the first game 9-11, Neha tried to claw her way back but the Singaporean took away the second with a small margin 16-14. Yu then wen to grab the next two games with with a 11-7 margin and finished the match in her favour. The Delhi girl earlier failed to qualify for the women’s singles main draw. Ghosh went down to his Korean opponent 8-11, 9-11, 14-16, 3-11, while Shetty put up a brave fight before losing 9-11 10-12, 6-11, 11-6, 11-8, 7-11 to Min. Bureau Report
