Turin (Italy): Jeev Milkha Singh overcame a minor blip on the front nine to return a card of two-under 70 and lie at tied 15th after three rounds in the Italian Open golf championship on Saturday.
Jeev`s 70 took him to 11-under 205 and five behind the leader Robert Rock, whose steady 68 saw him at 16-under 200.
Jeev, who arrived here only on Wednesday evening and played without a practice round, had a superb six-under 66 in his second round at the end of which he was tied 10th.
In the third round, Jeev birdied third and sixth, but dropped bogeys on fourth and fifth. Over the next 12 holes, he had two birdies and rest pars for a 70.
News, however was not good for Jeev`s fellow Indians, Shiv Kapur (74-67) and SSP Chowrasia (73-73) who missed the cut.Rock carded a 68 with five birdies and one bogey as he took a two-shot into the final round.
Rock, who has never won on European Tour before is two clear of a six-man pack at 14-under. That six-pack includes local hero Francesco Molinari (68), Gary Boyd (68), Niclas Fasth (64), Jbe Kruger (67), Pablo Larrazabal (65) and Joost Luiten (69).
Jeev, who arrived late as his son had fallen ill, is now 11-under through three rounds in a tournament, which he says is going to be a low-scoring one.
"I have played blind in event before without a practice round and I have good memories of doing that at the Austrian Open, which I won (in 2008)," said Jeev after the second round.
"It is a good golf course and the scores are going to be low," he added.
Things were however not too good for the other two Indians -- Kapur and Chowrasia.
Kapur had a superb second round, but even that 67 could not keep him for the weekend as the cut came at two-under 142 and Kapur was 143.There were four players at 13-under in tied eighth and another three in tied 12th 12-under 204.
