Verona: Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh turned in a modest one-under 71 to lie tied 59th in the
still-to-be-completed weather-hit opening round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship here. Twenty four golfers were yet to finish their rounds when darkness led to suspension of play on a day in which close to three hours of play were lost due to "dangerous weather conditions". The gloomy conditions notwithstanding, Jeev started rather brightly with back-to-back birdies on the fourth and fifth holes. But a bogey on the ninth left him one-under at the turn. On his way back, Jeev dropped a shot on the 13th before signing off with a birdie on the 18th on the opening day of the USD four million event being played at the Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort. There was a two-way tie for the lead at the top of the leaderboard after American Omar Uresti and South African Rory Sabbatini returned cards of seven-under 65 each. PTI
