New Delhi: The top two aides of Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee (OC) President Suresh Kalmadi, who were arrested yesterday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials in connection with the ongoing investigations into the CWG scam, have reportedly revealed that Kalmadi knew about all the decisions taken by the CWG OC. TS Darbari and Sanjay Mahendroo also said that no decision was taken without informing all the officials concerned. CBI arrested TS Darbari, former Joint Director General and Sanjay Mahendroo, former Deputy Director General after it registered two cases in this regard and conducted searches at four premises including the OC headquarters. CBI said the first case was registered under different Sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act in relation to the award of contract to London based AM car and Van Hire Ltd at exorbitant rates. The CBI has named Darbai, Mahendroo, OC Director Raj Singh, Director of transport firm Ashish Patel, and other unknown persons under sections 468 (forgery of court records and public documents), 471 (using forged documents as genuine), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act. Earlier today, sports minister MS Gill said in the Lok Sabha that all "irregularities" in run up to hosting the just-concluded Commonwealth Games will be examined and the guilty will not be spared. "...All irregularities will be examined and the guilty will not be spared," Gill said. Against the backdrop of allegations of irregularities in preparations for the sports event, Gill said recommendations of Shunglu Committee, the CAG and CVC -- probing the irregularities -- would be taken on board before agreeing to host similar international sporting events in the country. Gill admitted that close to the date of commencement of the Games, there were "instances of difficulties" including readiness of the Games Village and the accidental collapse of the foot overbridge near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. At the same time, the Sports Minister said, the Games have left behind a "lasting legacy" for sports, strengthened the sporting culture in the nation and "given us hope and inspiration for greater successes in the future."
