Chennai: India`s Narain Karthikeyan, who is making a comeback in the Formula One with the new Hispania Racing Team, on Friday said he was looking to score "a point or two" in the F1 season this year.
Karthikeyan had served as the test driver for Williams F1 team in the 2006-07 season after making debut with Jordan in 2005.
Last year, he signed with the Hispania Racing Team to be its official race driver for this Formula One season. "Definitely my realistic target during the year is to
score a point or two. We want to be the best of the new teams. I think that is achievable," Karthikeyan told reporters here.
Stating that the year was looking "promising", he said, "October will be a big month for me. By the time we will have a quite a decent practice".
In October, India will host one of the legs of the Formula One at Noida.Karthikeyan said he is yet to have a look at the track at Noida though he has seen some pictures of it.
Asked how physically fit he was to take part in F1 since he is participating after seven years, Karthikeyan said he feels like a rookie again. He said his focus has been practising cardio and neck exercises at the gym.
"I work out at least two-four hours a day. I have to be fit and I will really miss the tasty Indian dishes when I am driving abroad," he said.
On his recent experience at the Shanghai track, he said, "It was very good. I am delivering 90 per cent. But still I need to push more. Obviously, I need to keep improving. But after that seven-year gap, I feel like a rookie again".Karthikeyan was here to announce his team Hispania Racing inking an association with battery manufacturer Base Batteries.
