Lyngkhoi and Premila bag gold in 10,000m in NE Games

Beniningstar Lyngkhoi of Meghalaya and S Premila of Manipur emerged champions in the 10,000m race in the men`s and women`s events in the XXIV North East Games here today.

Shillong: Beniningstar Lyngkhoi of Meghalaya and S Premila of Manipur emerged champions in the 10,000m race
in the men`s and women`s events in the XXIV North East Games here today. Lyngkhoi was followed by Thondy Chang of Nagaland while Vanlalpeka of Mizoram had to be satisfied with the bronze medal. Mangal Tamang of Sikkim finished second behind Premila to win silver and was followed by Dolma Tamang of Sikkim. In the 800 meter race (men), Tripura`s runner ? Mithan Sarkar won gold medal, Manipur`s A Arun Kumar silver and Tripura`s Jafar Ali bagged bronze. Tripura`s Jiten Debverma won gold in men`s high jump event while Assam had a 2-3 finish with S K Nisar Alam getting silver and Sheikh Wazid Ahmed bronze. In the women`s high jump event, Tripura`s Archana Sukla Das got gold and was followed by her statemate Mamata Begam and Assam`s Dipshikha Talukdar (bronze). In shot put (men), Meghalaya`s Kuldeep Singh (gold medal), Assam`s Dulu Gogoi (silver) and Pajib Tamuli (bronze) were the medal winners. PTI
