Mahindra Intra-City leg Youth U-14 school Football Challenge

With the objective to cultivate young talent and provide a competitive framework to hone their skills, Indian multinational Mahindra Group will be host Mahindra Youth Football Challenge (MYFC) Under-14 School League 2010-11.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, P N Sankaran, Director Operations, Procam International Limited, a leading sports management company, said that the Kerala leg of the MYFC will be held at Kozhikode and Ernakulam district from December 13 and 14 respectively.

Twentyeight schools from various districts including thrissur 2, Palakkad 2, Malappuram 4, Wayanad 3, Kannur 2, Kasargod 2 and Kozhikode 13 will be seen in action in the Kozhikode leg.

The winning schools from these two districts will then face off against each other to bag the title of the `Champion school` of Kerala.

Kerala`s champion school will then lock horns with five other champion schools from Mumbai, Kolkata, Goa, Delhi and Bangalore to decide the winner of the Mahindra Youth football Challenge, he said.

The matches in the Inter-City leg will be held in a knock-out basis, he said.

MYFC will play out in six cities including popular football destinations including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Goa, Bangalore and Kerala, to identify the talented junior football players in the country, he said.

Pointing that Mahaindra Youth Football Challenge (MYFC) is the Mahindra Group`s commitment to promote football at the grassroots level, he said the company has partnered with Scottish football giants, Celtic Football club, ho will take on the responsibility of training and grooming young talent
identified through the initiative.

The winning schools from the six cities and their coaches will benefit from a four-day coaching camp to be conducted by a panel of visiting coaches from the Celtic Football Club before the Inter-City Chellenge, he said.

The panel will then shortlist 16 players from the inter-city challenge who will further undergo an intensive five-day long coaching clinic where two to four of the best players will be picked to travel to Scotland and the Celtic football Club for further intensive training, he said.
