Malhotra hopes India win record gold in Archery test event

Games and Archery Association of India president V K Malhotra is confident that hosts would dominate the tournament starting March 8. To be held at the newly-built Yamuna Sports Complex here from March 8, the five-day tournament, being organised by the CWG Organising Committee (OC) in collaboration with the AAI, will feature archers from 10 Commonwealth nations. The Archery Test event, which will concluded on March 12, will be a dress rehearsal for the Games from October 3-14. "There are eight gold medals, four in recurve and as many in compound. It would be the same during the Commonwealth Games and I hope our archers can win maximum gold medals," Malhotra said. "There are some good teams like England, Bangladesh and Malaysia. I hope there would be good competition and will help the team in the Commonwealth Games," he added. This invitational meet would comprise team and individual events for recurve and compound section and would also be attended by 45 team officials from countries like Bangladesh, England, Wales, Jersey, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Scotland, Malaysia and Singapore.
