Wayne Rooney expects Manchester United to make major signings this summer.

London: England striker Wayne Rooney expects his club Manchester United to make major signings this summer in a bid to reclaim the Champions League crown.

It may be recalled that Rooney famously questioned United’s ambition and the quality of last summer’s signings before agreeing his new contract in October – and has again stressed his desire to see the club splash the cash to strengthen the side. “Barcelona are incredible and sometimes you’ve just got to hold your hands up,” newspaper quoted Rooney, as saying. “There is ground to make up, not just for us but for the rest of the teams. That’s the level we want to be at and we need to up our level to be there. I’m sure the manager knows that and he’ll be looking at what he needs and what he is going to do to get us there,” he added.
