Man U outsiders in Champions League final: Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson feels Barcelona are favourites for the C.L. final.

London: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has no qualms over Barcelona being favourites to win Saturday’s Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, London.
“They deserve to be favourites. Their form has been terrific this season and they’ve scored 130-odd goals,” a daily quoted Ferguson as saying. “We’ve got to make an impact on the match ourselves. You expect the kind of players we have to make that impact. We’ve got Nani, Valencia, Hernandez, Rooney,” he added. Ferguson also admitted that what Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has achieved is fantastic. “You can only judge him against Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Di Stefano. They were unbelievable players and Cristiano Ronaldo will come into that bracket at the end of his career,” Ferguson said. “It’s about what you achieve at the peak of your career, like Pele, Di Stefano and Cruyff. But what Messi has done so far is fantastic,” he added. Messi is just one goal away from equalling Champions League’s highest scoring record in a season set by Ruud Van Nistelrooy. The former Manchester United striker had scored 12 goals during the 2002-03 campaign. (ANI) Bureau Report
