Manipur wins Indian archery round of North East Games

Manipur emerged victorious by beating Meghalaya and Assam in the Indian round archery (men`s team) at the XXIV North East Games at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex here today.

Shillong: Manipur emerged victorious by beating Meghalaya and Assam in the Indian round archery (men`s
team) at the XXIV North East Games at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex here today. Manipur`s team represented by archers M Sunder, M Manao and H B Jendranath scored a total of 1769 points to beat Meghalaya, whose state games is archery. Sturdy Manipur`s archers beat Meghalaya by 13 points to bag the coveted gold medals for themselves despite windy condition in yesterday`s event. Meghalaya, who bagged the silver, were represented by Wanksan Syiemlieh, Roshan Thapa and Prakash Gurung. They scored 1756 points. Assam, who bagged the bronze, were represented by Denjay Boro, Bersrang Narzary and Kansai Borgoyary. They scored 1746 points. In women`s team Indian round archery, Assam beat Manipur for gold while Meghalaya won bronze. Assam`s archers represented by Pallabi Boro, Binuma Brahma and Kamini Boro scored 1662 points to take home the coveted gold medals. Manipur, represented by K Prabhahini Devi, Th Usharani and A Sana Thoi, scored 1650 points for the silver. PTI
