Ghaziabad: Cases have been registered against AAP and BSP Lok Sabha candidates from Ghaziabad Shazia Ilmi and Mukul Upadhyay, even as there were complaints against BJP nominee VK Singh for violating the Model Code of Conduct.
Ilmi and Upadhyay were booked for conducting poll rallies beyond the stipulated time, while complaints against VK Singh accused him of claiming to be an Army chief during political meetings. "AAP candidate Shazia got permission from us to organise rally in Dasna area of Masuri till 6 pm last evening, but it continued till 7.30 pm," a senior police officer said, adding that it violated the Model Code and a case was registered against her in this regard. The officer said BSP candidate Mukul Upadhyay was also booked for violating the Code in a similar manner. "Upadhyay had orgainsed his rally in Dehra village of Masuri area till 9 pm last night, which is the clear violation of Model Code of Conduct," he said, adding that an FIR was registered against him. Probe has been ordered into the complaints against VK Singh, which if found true, would necessitate action, a poll official said. "We have got complaints against VK Singh stating that he is claiming to be an Army chief during his political rallies and meetings, on which we have ordered a probe. If Singh is found guilty, action would be taken against him," said a poll official who did not wish to be named.
