Jaipur: Dausa MP and Meena community leader
Kirori Lal Meena and his wife Golma Devi, a Rajasthan
minister, on Thursday began a protest here to lend their support to
anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare who has started a
fast-unto-death in Delhi for a stronger anti-graft law.

"Meena and his wife began their dharna near civil lines
railway crossing. They have submitted a memorandum which will
be handed over to the CM. The couple have extended their
support to Anna Hazare," DCP Jaipur South Jose Mohan said,
adding, they have demanded action to curb corruption.

The couple have also strongly condemned the state
government`s move yesterday to stop Meena from taking out a
rally in Udaipur today demanding food and employment
opportunities for tribals.

Meena also demanded action against a police officer who
allegedly had misbehaved with him in Udaipur yesterday.

An assistant of Meena said action against the police
officer and steps to curb corruption in order to enable tribal
people to get benefits of welfare schemes were among the
leader`s demands.

Later in the day, Meena told reporters that he was
stopped from taking out a rally demanding welfare of tribal
people and forcefully taken out of Udaipur last night.

On the other hand, Meena`s supporters disrupted vehicular
traffic by blocking Jaipur-Agra highway in Dausa district.

However, they moved from there and the highway was cleared
for traffic after police and administration intervened into
the matter.

Meena had planned a mass rally today in Udaipur demanding
eradication of corruption, employment opprtunities for tribals
but he was sent out of the city last night by the district
administration there.

Meanwhile in Udaipur, 11 supporters of Meena who were
arrested yesterday were produced before the city magistrate ML
Chauhan today, who sent them to jail.
