Jamshedpur: Mohammedan Sporting played out a 2-2 draw with Kerala`s Malabar United while Denzong Boys Football Club of Sikkim lost to Ar-Hima Meghalaya 2-4 in the 2nd division I-League qualifying round at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday.
In an evenly contested match, Malabar United drew the first blood through a brilliant goal in the 15th minute by Nwokwu Michael.
The Kolkata outfit, who defeated Sesa FC Goa 1-0 in their opening match, scored the equaliser through Suraj Mondal in the 55th minute. A minute later, Satar Sardar scored another goal to put Mohammedan Sporting into the lead.
Mohammedan Sporting`s joy proved short lived as Malabar FC made a counter attack and F Egware restored parity in the 80th minute.
In the morning session, Ar-Hima FC recovered from 0-2 deficit against Sikkim boys.Denzong striker Patrick Enondji put his team into the lead in the 12th minute while Abraham B Fanny increased the margin by netting another goal nine minutes later.
Ar-Hima FC, who drew 1-1 with Malabar United, put their act together after conceding two goals and raided the rival citadel.
The Meghalaya outfit reduced the margin through Engeneson Lyngooh in the 41st minute while the Emanuel fetched the equaliser.Ar-Hima continued to mount pressure on their opponents and striker Zico Zoremsanga`s powerful right footer put them into lead in the 52nd minute. Zico scored another in the 70th minute.
