Kolkata: Mohun Bagan today announced that
the club will confer the `Mohun Bagan Ratna` posthumously on
the 10 members of the Glorious XI of 1911.
Led by Shibdas Bhaduri, who has been already awarded the
`Ratna`, the side had defeated the East Yorkshire Regiment
Team on July 29, 1911, to become the first ever Indian team to
win the coveted IFA Shield.
The club at its executive committee meeting also formed
an advisory committee to help the club celebrate the
pre-centenary and centenary year of the Mohun Bagan Day, Mohun
Bagan stated in a release today.
Former Olympian Sailen Manna will chair the committee
with Chuni Goswami being the vice-chairman.
"All the surviving football captains of the club would be
members of this committee," the release said.
