Madrid: Real Madrid unveiled Jose Mourinho as their new coach at a news conference on Monday.
The Portuguese has signed a four-year contract with the Spanish giants following his move from European champions Inter Milan. “I like to give myself a challenge and this is a big one,” Mourinho said. “I have a lot of confidence in myself and my ability as a coach.” Real sporting director Jorge Valdano welcomed Mourinho to the nine-times European champions, who failed to win a trophy last season. “It’s an honour to have one of the most prestigious coaches in the world,” Valdano said. “We are delighted to have him here with us. The best thing for our club right now is to have Mourinho with us.” The 47-year-old Mourinho, former coach of Porto and Chelsea, replaced Manuel Pellegrini who was sacked last week. Bureau Report
