senior citizens, here did their bit today in support of the
demand for a comprehensive Lokpal Bill to fight corruption.
Hundreds of Mumbaikars protested at the Azad Maidan in
South Mumbai wearing Mahatma Gandhi caps embossed with the
slogan, `I am Anna Hazare` and white bands to spread the
message `Pehno Safed Patti, Karo Corruption Se Katti.`
"To eradicate corruption the people needed a focal point
which Anna Hazare has provided us. We are not asking for
removal of this government but changing the system,"
advertising Guru Bharat Dabholkar, who was at the Azad Maidan,
told PTI here.
"As an advertisement personality, I have suggested them
to run a film on Anna providing insights of his life, causes
he has supported. The logo on the batch be kept as - I am a
proud Indian against corruption," Dabholkar said.
A Class IV student Rohan Bansal may be too young to
understand the issue of corruption but in his own little way
he has pledged his support by drawing a painting of the social
activist saying - `I am against corruption`.
"I have been seeing on television and reading in
newspaper about this protest. All I know is that an old uncle
is fasting for corruption. He is following the steps of
Gandhi...he is the modern version of Mahatma," Rohan said.
Veteran actor Vikram Ghokale told PTI that "in my own
little way I am supporting the fight against corruption by
doing the fast from 6 am to 6 pm. Being a public figure, I am
garnering support. It is surprising that lot of youth have

have written messages. We want to sent it to the Prime
Minister`s Office. We intend to hold a rally tomorrow in

India Against Corruption (IAC) is the umbrella group
of people and organisations who have come together nationwide
to collectively demand enactment of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Also, we are planning to hold a candle light vigil at
Gateway of India, Carter Road in Bandra and at few railway
stations here, said Ruben Mascarenhas, Coordinator of IAC.
Viren Shah of Confederation of All India Traders,
Maharashtra, said the trader community is most affected by the
corrupt system as we have to bribe to get our work done. This
in turn affects the consumer. Hence, we support Anna`s fight.
SK Bose of National Railway Mazdoor Union, said, "We
have put up a message on major central railway stations saying
- `Support Anna Hazare`s fight against corruption`. We are
ready to fast. And need be we might not run trains tomorrow."
Showing his support for the septuagenarian, Yogendra
Pawar has done a hair cut that says - `Jan Lokpal
Bill`.Surgeon Ratna Magotra is also fasting for the past four
days and claimed continue to do so till the demands are not
Meanwhile, in Solapur, scores of people took out a
procession to extend support to Hazare. The procession that
was flagged off from the four martyr square, culminated into a
rally in front of the district collector office.
